Future Leaders is an annual publication, which profiles 100 of the most outstanding black university students in Britain. It is aimed at secondary school sixth-form, college and university students and is used as a role model guide to inspire and raise attainment. All the students featured are first nominated via a nomination form, those shortlisted are then invited in for an interview at the Powerful media offices.  Then the final 100 are selected, and appear in the publication, comes out every September.

 

 

2018 is a milestone year for Future Leaders, as on Friday, September 7th we will celebrate the 10th year anniversary of the magazine with an elaborate launch event featuring special guest speakers, interactive self-branding and skill-building workshops, awards, a delicious three-course lunch and an after-party. Sponsored by Future Leaders magazine partner-sponsor HSBC, this event will also mark the debut of the Future Leaders Careers Fair, showcasing some of the world’s top companies in the world of banking, special services, engineering, law and media. All students featured in this year’s 2018-19 edition of the magazine will be invited to the launch, as will our extensive Future Leaders Alumni in an amazing day to celebrate 10 years of black excellence. Invitees will also include selected business partners and key influencers, including some featured in out sister magazine, the Powerlist.

ABOUT THE EDITOR

 

Adenike Adenitire is the founding editor of the annual magazine Future Leaders, which is published by Powerful Media Ltd. The groundbreaking title, which is now in it’s 10th year, celebrates 100 of Britain’s most outstanding black university students and graduates, and is now one of the most recognised tools used to inspire university and college students from African and African Caribbean backgrounds.

Adenike has been a professional journalist for the past 15 years and in that time has written for national newspapers such as the Daily Mirror, and the Guardian, has appeared on BBC Breakfast TV, and is a contributor to the Huffington Post.

A key contributor to the 2011 Channel 4 documentary How Hip Hop Changed the World (presented by Idris Elba), she is the former entertainment editor at New Nation newspaper, and has interviewed celebrities such as Will Smith, Kanye West, Mariah Carey, Samuel L Jackson, Denzel Washington and Usher.

Outside of journalism, Adenike runs her own PR business Coast 2 Coast Media Ltd, where clients have included award-winning Hollywood actors Aml Ameen (Kidulthood, Harry’s Law, The Butler) and NonsoAnozie (The Bible, NBC’s Dracula, Ender’s Game).
